Those words from J.Lennon is what motivated Sophie Hones, DesignLaboratoire’s founder and owner, an innovative European designer based in Palo Alto, CA, USA, to become a designer. For her, the essence of good design is fueled by solving everyday problems.

 

Sophie's inspiration takes roots in visual and material objects from around us and around the world. A material, a shape, a system, will be analyzed and rethought to help create unconventional design in surprising and innovative ways. 

 

DesignLaboratoire’s mission is to create progressive designs, integrating when possible, environmental and sustainability considerations into the process. 

The clean, modern aesthetic of Sophie's products is designed to promote reflexion and awareness. 

 

 

Sophie Hones studied Fine Jewelry in Lausanne, Switzerland and Industrial Design at the ZHDK, Zurich University of the Arts in Zurich, Switzerland.
